Privacy Policy

YourPour ("we", "us") is an iOS application that recommends wine to you based on a taste profile you build inside the app and information you choose to share with us during a session. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what controls you have. We try to keep the data we collect to the minimum the product needs to function.

1. What we collect

1.1 Account information

When you sign in with Apple or with an email address, we receive and store a stable Firebase user identifier (UID) and the email address you signed in with. We do not receive or store your Apple account identifier. We do not store passwords — Firebase Authentication handles credentials on our behalf.

1.2 Your taste profile

The seven-question onboarding quiz produces a structured taste profile (preferences across body, acidity, tannin, sweetness, primary flavours, and a small number of sommelier-style descriptors). It is stored against your Firebase UID and is used to personalise recommendations. You can view and edit it at any time inside the app, and you can re-anchor it from Settings if your tastes change.

1.3 Recommendation history and feedback

We store the wines we have recommended to you, the session context you provided (the moment, the occasion, the food, the budget — if any), and the thumb-up or thumb-down feedback you give on each pick. This is used to refine your taste profile and to help you remember what you've tried.

1.4 Photographs taken inside the app

When you photograph a wine list, a shelf, or a bottle label, the image is sent through our backend (Firebase Cloud Functions) to Anthropic's Claude API for the sole purpose of recognising the wines and returning a recommendation. We do not retain the raw images after the recommendation is generated; we retain only the resulting recommendation and the extracted wine information.

1.5 Subscription and purchase information

Subscriptions and one-off scan packs are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat, who provides us with anonymised entitlement information (whether you have an active subscription, what plan you are on, whether you have remaining scan credits). We do not see your payment card details — Apple does.

1.6 Waitlist email addresses

If you join the waitlist on this website, we store your email address and the date you joined for the sole purpose of emailing you once when YourPour launches. We will not use this email for anything else and you can ask us to delete it at any time by writing to info@cgsoftwaresolutions.org.

1.7 Technical information

Like any networked app, we receive standard request metadata (IP address, app version, device model, OS version, anonymised crash reports). This is used to operate and improve the app and is retained only as long as is reasonably necessary.

2. What we do not collect

3. How your information is used

Your data is used to recommend wine to you, to remember what you've tried, to teach your taste profile, to operate your subscription, and to fix bugs. That's the entire list.

4. Third-party processors

We use a small number of third parties strictly to operate the product. They process your data on our behalf under their own privacy practices:

5. Your rights

You can view and edit your taste profile inside the app at any time. You can ask us to export or delete all data associated with your account by writing to info@cgsoftwaresolutions.org. If you are in the EU or the UK, you have additional rights under GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection) — exercise them through the same address.

6. Children

YourPour is intended for adults of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Data retention

We keep account data for as long as the account is active. If you delete your account, we erase your taste profile, recommendation history, and feedback within thirty days, except where we are required to retain a specific record by law (for example, financial records associated with a purchase).

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (Firebase managed encryption). We restrict internal access to the smallest set of people needed to operate the service. No system is perfect — if you believe you have found a security issue, please write to info@cgsoftwaresolutions.org.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change anything material about how we collect or use your data, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. For significant changes we will notify you in the app.
